HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Huntsville has a chance to become the host city of the 2013 Social Media Tourism Symposium after defeating Cleveland Thursday night.
In a tight race, Huntsville came away victorious with 7,400 votes to Cleveland’s 6,426 votes.
No.1 Huntsville will meet No.2 Missoula, Mont. in the championship round of the symposium contest on April 2.
If Huntsville does win the chance to host the conference, it will be held at The Westin in Bridge Street Town Centre.
The Nov. 6-8 symposium would bring close to 300 social media followers from around the country to town and drive $180,000 into the local economy.
